In today's art rooms, we want our students to think like artists and become intuitive, innovative and creative people, able to carry the skills of the arts to other areas. Creating well rounded students starts with building their skills of research, problem solving and critical thinking. This art unit takes the students through an exploratory journey of painting, industrial design, constructing and curation all with a chair.
In this Power Point presentation you will receive a flexible instructional sequence, offering the instructor a guide for reference (because nothing goes as planned). The presentation is organized in which the instructor facilitates discussion, explains expectations and allows for students to brainstorm. Student art projects consist of painting a chair that reflects their character, drafting an innovative design and translating their design to a 3D model. Every component to this art unit is diligently thought out, targeting all four artistic processes of the National Visual Arts Standards.
Before presenting to your students, please review each slide. The fonts I used may not be the same for all and so must be adjusted. The complete instructional sequence and guide is the last slide.
