Visual Discrimination Centers

Visual discrimination plays a large role in learning how to read, although we are most likely unaware of it. This set of task cards focuses on visual matching using pictures.

These Visual Task Card Centers were created to 1) increase awareness of visual discrimination through practice and 2) serve as an informal diagnostic to any visual discrimination concerns.

The Visual Discrimination Centers Bundle Includes:

Visual Closure Tasks

• Sight Word Letterboxes - identify the sight word using the picture cues, the "shape" of the word
• Closure tasks - identify the letter or number on each task card

Visual Tasks: Matching Pictures

• Students will point, circle, and/or “clip” to identify the matching picture
• 30 task cards

Visual Tasks: Matching Shadows

• 50 "Clip Cards" to identify the matching shadow picture
• 50 Matching Pairs with traceable words (add a dry erase marker)

• Boom Cards featuring visual discrimination tasks
• 30 self-checking questions

I print one set of each center and then divided the task cards into several individual literacy centers. They fit perfectly in a small plastic bag or 4 x 6" plastic photo case.
