Visual Discrimination Task Cards: 64 cards. Cut each sheet on the dotted line and laminate. Each card has two images on it. Some of the images are exactly the same, while other images have reversals, inversions, or are completely different. Have the student sort through the cards and identify which cards have the same images and which do not.
Practicing with these cards will require the student to process visual stimuli and identify any differences. This activity not only sharpens discrimination skills, but also concentration and processing. Finally, these cards can be used as an informal assessment of visual discrimination. As the student sorts the cards, teachers can note any errors, behavior patterns, or discriminatory weaknesses.
