Welcome to Visual Fractions – Adding Mixed Numbers!

Using this method, students will learn to DRAW MIXED NUMBERS using only visual models.

Students gain a deeper understanding of mixed numbers by working at the pictorial/iconic level by learning how to draw visual models of mixed numbers.

This video could be used as the lecture part of a flipped classroom lesson. It could be shared with individual students who struggle with understanding fraction basics, it could be used as the lecture segment of your classroom lesson, or it could be used to inform you and your colleagues about a new and exciting way to work with fractions.

The Visual Fractions method is great for students new to learning fractions because it allows them to have a deeper understanding of what is happening when working with abstract concepts like fractions. It is also great for older students who still struggle with basic multiplication and division, but still are expected to know and perform operations with fractions.

I hope you like it and see its usefulness in your classroom.

You can get all of the videos teaching all of the operations with fractions using visual models, all of the supporting worksheets, the 60-page Visual Fractions Guide for only $5!
