One of my favorite times during the school day is journal time! Not only is it a wonderful, authentic, and balanced approach to beginning literacy, I get to see and hear about my kiddos thoughts, ideas, and stories, which is so exciting!
Especially at a young age, though, students have trouble brainstorming, or coming up with things to draw/write about!
Whether you've never used prompts for journaling before and are looking to start or if your littles need some ideas to get their brains started, you've come to the right place!
This is a set of VISUAL journal prompts, geared for students in Pre-K or K. The written prompt is at the top of each page, so children can begin to match spoken words (you) with print or start to read the prompts to themselves! Each prompt is matched with pictures that will jumpstart ideas and help when a student is "stuck".
This set of prompts includes all things Fall, asking the children to think about things they see and encounter during the autumn months! There is one color and one black and white version of each prompt. Included in the Fall set are prompts pertaining to popular themed units including:
-All About Me
-Friends and Family
-Why I love journaling in Pre-K and why it's a great literacy tool!
-The basics of kid-writing and how to facilitate it.
-How to use these prompts.
