About this product:
This product is designed to be used for life skills instruction and in classrooms with multiple levels of learners. It embraces embedded curriculum! When you follow the weekly lesson plan your students will not only learn cooking and grocery shopping skills, but will also be working on reading, comprehension, categorizing, inference, counting, sequencing, computation, money, analysis skills, and more! Built-in differentiation allows for students to progress through the various levels as skills are mastered as well as ensures meaningful participation at their individual cognitive levels during whole group instruction.
How to use this product:
To assemble this weekly cooking/recipe unit for your students you will need to choose materials from each section that are at the appropriate instructional level for each of your students. Each section has multiple levels, so every students’ book can be uniquely tailored to them! I like to use plastic combs to bind the weekly cooking/recipe unit into a book for each of the students. Please note that student friendly section divider pages are included! All of their learning materials for this unit are then kept in one place with easy and organized daily access to their individual learning activities. At the end of the unit, the entire book goes home with the students. .Although I prefer to use ‘cut and paste’ for the activities in this unit, sometimes the student materials work better if they are laminated before binding them into a book. You know your students best, so if you have learners who like to put things in their mouth, tear items up, or just need thicker pieces to grab onto you will want to laminate (and possibly use Velcro) for their weekly books!
What's next for this series?
This is the first recipe in the Visual Recipes—Breakfast series. Ultimately, this series will end up being a set of 36 weekly breakfast recipes that can be used throughout the school year. All of the recipes will have the same format, to allow consistency from one week to the next. As products in this series are completed, they will be sold as part of a growing bundle on Growing Potential’s TPT store!
