Have you a student who ALWAYS wants to be the center of attention? S/he makes noises, blurts out, is the "class clown"? This may help reduce these behaviors by simply putting the visual reminder on his/her desk. You don't even need to stop teaching to do this!! I have utilized this, and I have found this to be a very successful strategy.
Using these is super easy! You can either just have one on the student's desk that is laminated, and when the student is being disruptive, just walk over and put your finger onto it to remind him/her to check oneself. OR, you can pre-print copies and have them available to place on the disruptive student's desk to visually remind the student to check oneself.
This technique is not new, but it most certainly works!! I have used it with several attention deficit students as well as "class clowns" who are seeking attention, and it is a great reminder and self-control technique.
This makes a great General Education Intervention (SIT/RTI/SST).
