These cards were designed for very young children who are delayed in speech sound production. Each picture represents a visual and auditory connection to familiar objects and sounds in a child’s natural environment. They are simple, with plain, non-distracting backgrounds so the child focuses on the picture only. The large pictures should be laminated or placed in page protectors, then put in a binder. They can be used to have children review their sounds, or they can be given to families to use for home practice. I use them with my Birth-3, home-based children. Families like having a concrete way to help their kids learn to use their sounds. The smaller pictures can be printed on magnetic sheets which can be found in office supply stores, cut apart, and put on refrigerators, magnet boards, or even cookie sheets.
