Do you have students who come to a complete stop in class when they aren't sure what to do next or when they are confronted by a challenging problem? Perhaps you have students who do one problem or step at a time and then passively wait for you to check in with them one-on-one before they will proceed to the next step. I have had many students like this over the years so I developed this prompt card to help them to develop confidence and initiative in class. Instead of waiting passively for the teacher to notice that they need help, students can refer to this card for some visual cues and a strategy to help them decide what to do next. It reduces reliance on verbal prompts from the teacher and promotes student independence, problem-solving and critical thinking.
The PDF file contains two different sizes of this visual support strategy cards that you can easily print. For a larger-sized prompt card, print the sheet that contains 2-per-page. For a postcard-sized prompt card, print the sheet containing 4-per-page. These prompt cards are ready to be printed and placed on student desks, attached to a planner/notebook or inserted into the front cover of a binder for easy reference.
This product is similar to my Visual Support/Prompt for Behavior & Self Regulation: Become Independent in Class but uses different language and graphics. You may wish to check it out before purchasing to see which would best suit your particular students.
