Use Visual Thesaurus (Visualthesaurus.com) in your class to help student deepen and enrich their understanding of language. Yes, you will need a subscription to the website. I cannot begin to explain how useful this tool has become to me. It offers voice pronunciations, color-coding for Part of Speech, and access to a visual learning modality that is rarely something we can gain on our own. Words are displayed in brainstorms with the definitions. You can sort by Part of Speech, definition, or related words. Relationships between words are displayed too! This is one of many of my templates that students in my class use when we are “studying a word”. They love using Visual Thesaurus, even more so now that they are collecting these pages. We turn them into a dictionary for each student. It’s a great year-long project.?
