This is a student-centered grammar activity in which students explore or review the use of Me gusta and Me encanta with singular nouns in contrast to the use of Me gustan and Me encantan with the use of plural nouns. In this activity, students are all given a card that is either a part of the main idea (A mi me gusta...) or a supporting detail (la manzana). Students must communicate with each other to figure out what the grammar "rule" is without teacher instruction. After students find their group members, they create a visual web in which the person with the main idea stands in the middle and all students with supporting details point towards the main idea. Students then present on what the grammar rule is based on the cards they have and the conclusions they can draw.
I use this activity with the Realidades 1 textbook chapter on food. Student must have learned food vocabulary and plurals of nouns to best complete the activity.
