The focus of this lesson is on the skill VISUALIZING/SENSORY IMAGES. Students will be introduced/reminded of what visualizing is, what happens when you do not have good visualizing strategies, how to become stronger visualizers, and practice with their visualizing skills. They are engaged because the whole format is done with a film real background, funny animations, and challenging thinking. There are a few YouTube videos embedded to help reinforce the skill and make it even more enjoyable for students to learn. In addition, at the end of the PowerPoint students go through a TOP 5 list that helps them try to figure out why VISUALIZING is so important. Students are asked to independently create their own working definition of Monitoring for Meaning in a fun and interactive way.
My students can't get enough of these highly engaging PowerPoint because they are all ANIMATED with VIDEO CLIPS. This can easily be used in any classroom for a fun lesson to teach this content. I also use this as a reference tool for students to continuously refer back to if they need a refresher. This helps differentiate the needs of my diverse learners.
