Comments: These are visuals to help children see both the format of the rules, and the relationship between these rules. I included two steps to emphasize that we are not just adding a letter, but changing to a different grapheme.
I left out references to other criteria, such as whether or not a word has to be a free base, a content word, etc. to simplify the diagrams. I know that many teachers do not talk about these criteria when introducing the rule, so I decided to leave them out so as not to confuse. It is up to the teacher to decide when and how to address any additional criteria than that shown.
