These cards correspond to the movie "Viva Cuba". The story is about two children in Cuba who go in search of the girl's father in order to stop him from signing an authorization to allow her mother to take her from Cuba. I use this movie with my 7th graders to work on narration and story telling. The cards help to guide the students through this process. After watching the movie each day, I ask the students to work in pairs to put the story in order. Students then must retell the story as it happened. The cards are written in the present tense as my students are mostly at the intermediate proficiency level and are working on this narration skill. The cards also help students to catch up if they have missed a day of the movie. The activity generally takes 10 minutes of class time per day.
