This is a small group reader's theater intended for 4 students. It was written to help students understand about the rotation and revolution of the Earth and how they differ. The plot states: Joshua wasn’t paying attention when Mrs. Whitesides was talking about the Earth revolving in space and figured that revolution meant a war with aliens. Christina and Lidia try to set him straight and explain the difference between rotation and revolution. It isn’t until Samuel and Joshua actually try to rotate and revolve themselves that they are able to understand the difference and remember. I wrote this to tie science into language arts.
My name is Melanie Whitesides but my store name is Wonbyone. I write small group reader's theaters in order to encourage reluctant readers to practice and become more fluent. I keep them small so that students do not have to wait a long time to get to their lines and therefore get more practice in. Be aware if you use this for 3rd grade the students will need some extra vocabulary help. Please let me know how your students do with the script as well. Thank you.
