This is a template used to help students with vocabulary. This template can be used in all subjects. The square is set up with a Word box, definition, and visual section already. There are 2 sections that are left blank for you to choose what you would like the students to do. For example, in Science when I use the 4 Square I would have my students not only draw a picture to help them remember what the word means, but I would also use one of the squares for them to draw the chart, illustration, cycle, etc. that the word maybe associated with.
In Math I use one of the blank squares to work a problem with the students, and the other for them to work solo on. For example if we were doing the word Quotient, then we world work a division problem as a class, and then I'd assign another as solo.
In ELA I've seen teachers use the blank squares for antonyms, synonyms, sentences, thinking maps, etc.
There are so many uses for the 4 square that it really is a valuable tool to have in your vocabulary folder.
