There are FIVE different center activities that could easily be adapted to be used as a whole group activity, and there is a variety of additional practice pages, resources, and anchor charts, as well.

It's a Piece of Cake - Similes and Metaphors
- anchor charts
- Tasty Task cards - students will answer questions about the meaning of similes and metaphors

Let's Hit the Road - Idioms
- anchor chart
- Task cards to read with context clues for students to match to the actual meaning of each of the 12 idioms. **for a challenge, leave out the definition cards for students to have to come up with their own definition for each idiom.
- response sheet
- 2 practice pages to use in the interactive notebook
- 1 practice page to use without an interactive notebook

Cool Off with Context Clues
- 6 passages with nonsense words included for students to have to use context clues to figure out the meaning of the nonsense word
- 6 target words that fit the meaning of each nonsense word are included, but you can leave them out for students to have an additional challenge
- response sheet

Hot Day for Homographs
- anchor chart
- 20 scoot cards - students will read a sentence with a homograph and choose the multiple choice answer that best defines the meaning of the homograph in the given sentence
- response sheet
