Here are 10 words from the book, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. Use the strategies a strong reader uses to define these words and use them in a sentence.
• Using the context clues in the sentence, paragraph, or story.
• Looking the word up in a dictionary or glossary.
• Asking someone else; like a friend, teacher, parent, or adult.
Students will make vocabulary cards to define the word, use in sentence, draw a picture, and tell how they found their word.
