Sometimes students just need practice and repetition using new vocabulary words. This coloring page is intended to be a fun approach to vocabulary instruction. Students will choose from an existing list of vocabulary words you have given them. Are you teaching a novel? Short story? Play? ACT words? Nonfiction texts? This activity works with all vocabulary word lists - student or teacher-generated.
With this vocabulary assignment, students analyze a cartoon or movie picture, choose a fitting word from their list, and write a sentence for that word using context clues. This vocabulary activity is perfect for visual and artistic learners as well as those who need to make connections. Making associations is a brain-based, research-proven technique to help students learn new words.
