This battleship-like template will allow your students to practice their vocabulary words for any subject! Students begin by drawing pictures to represent each of their vocabulary words using the template provided. Once their drawings are complete, students will partner up. Use a folder or some kind of divide to place between them. They will take turns communicating their drawings to their partner without showing one another their paper. They will use the battleship-like grid to do so. For example, "I drew a picture of ___ in box A2." That student's partner will use the other template provided to write down what vocabulary word their partner is describing in box A2. They will then compare boards at the end to see if they were able to successfully recreate their partner's board!
This activity has been a game changer for my ELL students! The communicative aspect to this activity deepens their understanding of the words.
