In this book, students can write the new vocabulary that they learn through their lessons with you, their ESL teacher. I like this method because it doesn't just focus on completing a graphic organizer and then being done with utilizing the new vocabulary.
As you work with students in reading, discussing and writing about text, select a few new or review vocabulary words from the text to focus on during the lesson. This review, included with journaling the new words, and then using them to compose written work, discuss the topic, and/or complete an additional activity, will reinforce learning.
Make a folder/binder for each student, and bring with you to your meetings/lessons. This way, the books are never "lost."
