If you make it into a game, students forget that their learning. At least that's what I have found in my experience. One game my students always requested was Vocabulary Charades. It offered the opportunity for students to review the vocabulary prior to taking the test in a way that involved critical thinking and kinetic movement. It was a way to "trick" them into studying.
My school uses a set vocabulary program; however, you could use this with vocabulary from a novel study or even for other subjects (science, social studies, math, foreign language). The class MUST have gone over the vocabulary words and their meanings prior to playing the game.
