Vocabulary: Figures of Speech 2 Instructions
Product Description
From Electric English...
These are the instuctions for a comprehensive unit on figures of speech and rhetorical devices. This unit asks the students to revisit 25 of the most common figures and devices. And gives them 5 new figures that are typically less known. I have a PowerPoint that accompanies the unit, which is also posted in my store. If you already have something that you like to use, however, the unit will pair well with any existing work. The students must learn what these figures and devices are, but more importantly, must show understanding by trying to create them on their own. If they research some of them because they are having trouble, all the better!!! They are still exposing themselves to great methods for writing and speaking... That being said, this second unit asks the students to take their analysis one step further and determine what makes their examples good or bad.... What are their merits or lack thereof?

NOTE: This second look at figures of speech and rhetorical devices presupposes that the students have already worked with these devices at some point. Do not use this exericise if your students have never worked with figures of speech before now.... But if they have!!!! It is great to make them revisit these terms again. Typically, I introduce Figures of Speech 1 at some point during first semester and revisit them at some point during second semester :)
