Students learn vocabulary by immersing themselves in it. They can do that using this vocabulary activity. Students draw a box and divide it into quarters. Each quarter will contain a different part of the four square. For each word, students use their resources to (1) find a definition, (2) draw a picture or use the word in a sentence, (3) explain the word in their own word or give examples, and (4) make a word association.
This example uses science vocabulary to illustrate how to successfully complete a four square.
