This free product is a quick way to keep track of important vocabulary words while reading. While reading, students record the words they think are most important in the alphabetical boxes. When finished, they can share their work with a partner and discuss why they selected each word and/or what they learned about each term. The grid could also be collected and used as a formative assessment to see if students were able to determine importance while reading.
Several versions are included – two that coordinate with an ocean theme and three that can be used with any book.
