Word Work: These Vocabulary Building Activities provide opportunities for Kindergarten, and Grade One children to practice identifying and naming items that can be found, and activities that people do, in the 4 SEASONS. Working on learning... and using new vocabulary? Check this out!

Vocabulary: I have… /Who has…? 4 SEASON BUNDLE (SASSOON)

CONTENTS:
Each of the 4 season resources contain:
30 bright and engaging pictures (that can be used as story starters).

3 formats and three games included:
• Two pictures on the cards - 8 cards per page / and a larger format with 4 cards per page
• One picture per card – 4 cards per page - open-ended.

How to play the game(s):
Use the Summer Chart as a reference. Identify and discuss all of the cards as a class, or group. If the child describes the picture in different words…that’s OK. (example: instead of ‘a girl jumping into the water’ ... they might say, ‘a girl going swimming’. Use the correct vocabulary to convey meaning. (example: as a class you may decide to use bucket instead of pail.)

• Bring in things from nature to touch and feel.

Example - Game 1
• The first player chooses any card, and reads it. For example, “I have a beachball. Who has lemonade?” That child then places that card in a container, that has been placed on the table.
• Everyone looks at their cards to see if they have lemonade. The person who does then says, “I have lemonade. Who has sunscreen?” That child places that card in the container, and so on.
• Play continues until all of the cards are in the container. (Last card goes into the container.)

Example - Game 3
• To determine who goes first, roll a dice…the highest number starts the game.
• Have the children look at the autumn chart and using a bingo dabber cross off the item they choose to start with, (matches a card in his/her hand) and an item they will ask for (card not in his/her hand). The child will call out, “I have a ____. Who has a_____?”
• Using a bingo dabber, each child will identify, find, and mark off the picture that matches what has been called out. (e.g. kids in a boat)
• The game ends when all of the cards have been played.
