I love using picture books to teach vocabulary words. My students always say they LOVE vocabulary. I've found that teaching vocabulary through context clues and direct instruction has really improved my students' comprehension.
This file includes everything I use to teach vocabulary in my classroom during the first quarter. ***(The picture books are not included.) I take about 15-20 minutes a day to teach vocabulary because I feel it's so important in helping my students' reading skills and comprehension.
There is a teaching guide that gives you suggested steps for how I teach vocabulary in my classroom. To help you teach the words, each picture book lesson includes word cards, definition cheat sheet, a review game, and assessment with answer key. You'll work with each set of words for 8-9 days so there is enough material for 1 quarter of school.
