Product Description
Challenge and engage your middle, junior high, and high school speech therapy students with Tier 2 words by using Vocabulary Loops.

Have you ever found a great vocabulary loop, but it is hard to make it work in a small group speech therapy setting? Are you a push-in SLP and have trouble adapting small group activities to the large group setting? Do your students with language impairments need repeated practice to learn Tier 2 words?

If you answered yes to either of these questions, then Vocabulary Loops for small and large groups are for you!

This listing comes with 2 Vocabulary Loops that can be adjusted to have as few as 5 and up to 23 words based on group size and skill level. Each student in the group is given 1 or more cards. The first card in each Loop has a definition which is read out loud. The student that has the vocabulary word to match the definition reads his/her "I have/who has" card. The Loop ends when all of the cards have been used.
Example:
Student 1: "Who has a word that means to make things easier?"
Student 2: "I have simplify. Who has a word that means coming just before another?"
Student 3: "I have previous. Who has a word that means....?"

In the small group setting, I start with 5 words. As students become faster at completing the loop, add more cards to make the loop more challenging. In the large group setting, I use up to 23 words, and each time we practice the loop, we time ourselves and try to beat our best time. Students are highly motivated by working together to achieve a goal. Sometimes a reward is offered if students can beat a target time. I love using Vocabulary Loops as a warm up to therapy sessions each week so students can get repeated practice with challenging Tier 2 words.

This listing also comes with 3 types of "Task Tickets." Task tickets are short activities for focused practice with a specific word from the Loop. Task tickets can be shared with the group or kept for data collection/work samples.
