Vocabulary organizer for use with fiction or non-fiction reading. I have used this organizer many times in my classroom, and it really helps the kids remember new vocabulary words. Have students pick a word out of shared reading, independent reading, literature circles or other reading assignment. They might pick the word because it sounds fun, it has an interesting meaning, or for any reason that the word is exciting to them. Then, they fill in the organizer by explaining why they chose the word, using their own words to define the word, quoting the part in the text where they found the word, writing their own sentence, identifying part of speech, and drawing a picture.
