This page will help define and connect vocabulary words to their word family and related words. Students will then be prompted to write a sentence either using the key vocab. word or one of the word family words in order to encourage proper use and tense.
The teacher will record or provide words OR students can find or choose them. They will then record a synonym (to encourage substitute words as opposed to using a dictionary) given by the teacher or decided by themselves. They will check off on a check mark list for part of speech-given by teacher or decided/found themselves. They will then list word family words (especially for verbs and nouns). Finally, there is a box for related words. At the bottom, there are 5 lines for sentence writing to encourage use-of and transfer of word.
Example: word, identity [noun]; word family words: identify, identification, identifying, identifies, identified; related words are looks, appearance, features-then students can use the word, identity in a sentence OR a word family word instead.
