This is a template that I have used in my bilingual 3rd grade classroom as a hybrid vocabulary and technology activity during reading centers.
The students have a sheet (editable .DOC - 1 English, 1 Spanish) that lists their vocabulary words for the week, along with each word's part of speech, definition, and translation in Spanish/English.
They use this sheet to fill in the various text boxes on the Vocabulary Powerpoint (editable .PPT - 1 English, 1 Spanish). One slide is done per vocabulary word.
The slides have the students:
-type the word
-write its translation in Spanish/English
-make a word pyramid for the word
-list its part of speech
-type its definition
-use the word in a sentence
Then they can use whichever teacher approved picture search engine to find a picture of the word.
When they finish with all the vocabulary slides, there is a rubric provided for them to self-assess their work for completeness, accuracy, and creativity.
I would print out the vocabulary sheet 1 per student, and then I would copy the blank .PPT file in their student document folder. Voila! A vocabulary reading center that helps students grow more fluent in technology.
***BONUS: Included in the editable vocabulary sheet file is a vocabulary practice page template for writing the word 3x each and using the word in a sentence. This can be used for extra practice if the student finishes early, or included in a weekly vocabulary practice packet.
