This game provides a whole-class activity in which students partner-up and compete against each other in a "$100,000 Pyramid" game show format. The 10-round game (plus sudden death tie breaker, if needed) allows students to think critically in order to supply context clues of words to their partners so that the partner can guess the word. Of course, just like the vintage game show, the partner providing the clues is not allowed to say any of the words!
**Note...if the tiebreaker is needed, the duo who says the correct word first is the winner.
This game is saved as a PDF file and includes a printable student score sheet as well as blank templates to create up to 10 rounds of game play. The directions are ready to project for students to read, and the round "cards" are ready to digitally project as well. To utilize the templates, simply open this document in PowerPoint and add text boxes as directed. Insert your current content vocabulary into the text boxes, and they will be ready to project for the game. You can use the templates again and again with as many vocabulary words as you wish.
This game was my students' favorite way to practice our vocabulary words, and they literally begged for more rounds when we finished.
