These ready to go sentence frames support vocabulary instruction to ensure successful use of new vocabulary for all of your students. Although these are especially important for your English Language Learners, I have noticed more and more that while many of my students seem to understand the vocabulary words and their meanings, they do not know how to successfully use them in a sentence.
These 150 templates provide students with sentence frames in which to practice correctly reading and using vocabulary words. They coincide with the Reading Wonders 1st grade curriculum, but are great for any young learners and speakers, especially English Language Learners! If your district curriculum does not provide any vocabulary instruction, these are great for you, too! There are 5 new words taught per week and it only takes 5-10 minutes of instructional time each day.
They can be used in a variety of ways and work wonderfully toward the gradual release of responsibility. You can:
*use them as a visual to model how to correctly use the vocabulary words (I do)
*have students read them as they practice using the words with a partner (We do)
*make a second set for students to practice in a literacy center (You do)
Other helpful ideas:
*laminate them in order to write on them as needed and easily wipe and go
*print them out and bind them into a book to use week by week
*shine them up on an Interactive Whiteboard and use the pen tool to write as needed
These templates come with colorful unit dividers 1-6 (like the cover on this product) if you want to make them into individual sets (which is how I use them week by week).
