My students love doing vocabulary squares for their weekly vocabulary. These work great for English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, or however you want or need to use them.
Each square asks students to identify the word and definition, create a meaningful sentence, and illustrate the word.
There is also a version which asks students to identify the part of speech. This is perfect for English Language Arts related practice.
A third version asks students to self-check themselves with a "Levels of Understanding." I tell my students that this is where they decide how well they understand the word. A 1 means they don't get it at all. A 2 means the sorta get it. And 3 means they understand completely. This is a great way for students to self-assess.
An example is included for each set along with pages for back to back copying.
