While students read they will come across many unknown words. That's why it is important to teach them vocabulary strategies so they can figure out what those unknown words mean. This anchor chart will help students to attack those unknown words strategically. You can use this chart as a teaching tool by incorporating the strategies into mini lessons and read alouds. Once you've demonstrated how to use the strategies students will soon try them on as well in their own reading. Each strategy could be the focus of it's own minilesson. That is how I teach it in my own class.
This purchase comes with an editable color version and white background version of the chart. At the end of each set there is an older student version of the word analysis strategy. Please attach your own appropriate example to this strategy. Enjoy!
