Using visual posters to help students learn & internalize vocabulary strategies is a powerful way to deliver instruction. My students often refer to "Picture Clue Sue" or "Word Part Bart" when describing how they determined the meaning of an unknown word.
Included are 5 striking posters depicting a clip art of a vocabulary strategy character & the corresponding skill, as well as two graphic organizers and a cover which can be used to create Vocabulary Journals, and two strategy bookmarks. These are vivid, colorful posters which stand out in the classroom.
Context Clue Lou - Find hints in the story
Picture Clue Sue - Use the pictures to help
What I Know Moe - Use your prior knowledge
Dictionary Larry - Look it up!
Word Part Bart - Think about the base word, any prefixes or suffixes to determine meaning
Also included are masters for creating student "Word Investigation Kit" booklets:
*Two different graphic organizer pages.
My students are find the strategy posters engaging & have really internalized the strategies. I hope you enjoy them in your classroom as well!
