To practice vocabulary students can create their own wordsearches. They write the English definitions at the bottom next to the numbers and then write the Spanish words in the boxes at the top (one letter per box), or they can do it vice versa. I always let them go horizontally, vertically, diagonally, and even backwards. After they have all the Spanish words written, they fill in the empty boxes with random letters to hide their words.
Next, I have them trade with a friends, and we usually have a competition to see who can finish the fastest. The top five finishers usually receive a treat.
This could also be great for other languages!
