This power point is designed to give students the most commonly used prefixes, roots, and suffixes in the English language. I used them as class starters and introduced 6/week, with a quiz on Friday. I would add 6 more word parts each week, and I gave a final assessment for each group at the end of the nine weeks. We would go over the word part and words using the word part on the board, and I would teach them a motion to link the word part and definition (for example, pushing away from them from the prefix ab-). I also do a chant with them while doing the motions to review ("I say abs-, you say away. Me: Abs (pushing away with my hands) them: away (pushing away with their hands) " I either advanced the power point from the front of the room or had a student do it at my computer so that they could see the word part as they were saying and doing the word part. The combination of all of the learning types makes this one of my student's favorite activities.
I also provided weekly study tools on quizlet. The link to join my quizlet class is https://quizlet.com/join/jfH7MjFnQ. I have other nine weeks done as well. Let me know if you would like me to upload more. Thanks!
