Vocalize with Ease
Students vocally and physically trace each arrow in numerical order to vocalize on the vowel sounds following the arrow’s direction (up, down and repeating straight across.) End the exercise when your finger arrives at the point of the arrow. You can vary the exercise by tracing the arrows slowly and quickly. Remind students to breathe from the diaphragm and to keep shoulders down. Make sure students are producing a rounded vowel sound and that the corners of the mouth don’t spread.
This is also useful as a center activity. Give students a toy car to trace the direction of the arrows while singing.
