Vocalic R tic tac toe (ear sound) | Articulation | Speech Therapy
This is an easy printable activity to elicit vocalic /r/. I use this strategy with students who have prevocalic /r/ but are struggling to learn vocalic /r/.
Included are two game sheets.
*/ear/ with coarticulation and /ear/
The words with coarticulation are for students who are working to achieve placement for vocalic /r/ and already have the initial /r/ placement.
Once they are able to produce vocalic /r/ with the coarticulation strategy, they can move on to the game sheet with single words.
In practicing with coarticulation, I tell the students to stress the 2nd word.
I ask them to focus on the 2nd word.
This helps them to capitialize on their ability to say intial /r/ words and elicit that vocalic /r/ that we are targeting.
This strategy has made a big difference in my success with vocalic /r/ in my therapy sessions.
You can print this and send it home for homework or you can put it inside a clear plastic sleeve and use it many times for therapy sessions with a dry erase marker.
