Kindergarteners and first graders believe there is one voice level... YELLING! It's time to engage your students while teaching them about the 5 different voice levels, and when to use each one!
This is book companion accompanies the book Decibella and Her 6 Inch Voice by Julia Cook.
•Classroom Voice Level Chart- Display at the front of your classroom, and let students know what voice level they should be using with a clothespin.
•Decibella Anchor Chart- After reading the story, discuss the 5 different voice levels, and have students help you match the correct pictures with each voice level.
•Interactive Notebook- Students will use pictures or words to explain when they would use each type of voice level.
•Individual Voice Level Charts- Small voice level charts to attach to students' desks. The voice level they should be using can be indicated with a paper clip as another visual reminder.
•My Voice Craftivity Students will create a portrait of themselves and either 1) write when they would use a 6 inch voice or 2) choose a voice level and write when they would use that voice level.
•Student Necklaces- Once students have mastered using their 6 inch voices, celebrate their accomplishment by giving each student a celebratory necklace!
