Designed for AP seniors, this is a truly rigorous Valentine's Day lesson. Students learn about writing style/voice as it pertains to a character in literature (with examples from The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Wuthering Heights). After analyzing and discussing these passages, students analyze a passage from a novel of their choice (or your current novel of study) to write a valentine mimicking the voice and style of the character. The materials in this product include a short lesson plan (20 minutes) with scripted discussion questions for the teacher and a simple PowerPoint. It also includes a worksheet with a graphic organizer for students to complete as they analyze a passage from the novel, and a space to write the valentine.
