Product Description
In this interactive activity, students will be introduced to four characters from across Canada. The students will then visit each of the 10 provided stations to learn about the various facets of the Great Depression in Canada. At each station is a guided question to get them considering the impact of various events, stressors and choices that were made by Canadians during the 30s.

The topics covered in this activity include:
- election of R.B. Bennett
- drought/dust bowl in the prairies (in particular Saskatchewan)
- relief camps and the conditions of the relief camps
- On-to-Ottawa Trek
- Regina Riot
- Co-Operative Commonwealth Federation
- Social Credit Party/William Aberhart
- Communist Party of Canada
- Bennett's New Deal
- Fairway Crested Wheatgrass
- Riding the Rails

This activity was created for a Grade 10 Canadian History class using Ontario curriculum standards, however it would work in any grades 9-12 class covering similar material.

This activity took my students 2 full periods (75 minutes each) to complete. Students were engaged and enjoyed the interactive experience. There was on-topic discussion happening as the groups tried to answer each of the questions.

Included in this package is a station guide so that when students need to review the materials later on, they can easily locate the terminology and concepts. There is also a "key terms" work sheet they can complete while visiting the urls associated with each station.

AN ANSWER KEY HAS BEEN PROVIDED!

Students can complete the stations in numeric order or they can follow one of four pathways that have been provided for you to give them. This will assist with avoiding clustering at one particular station.

**PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE VIDEOS MAY BE ONLY AVAILABLE IN CANADA AND COULD BE GEOBLOCKED ELSEWHERE. VERIFY BEFORE PURCHASING.**
