Build a papier mache volcano and watch it erupt! Teach students all about plate tectonics, how volcanoes are formed, and the difference between lava and magma.
In Part 1, students learn how volcanoes are formed as they construct their own erupting volcano. Then in Part 2, they find out why volcanoes erupt and the difference between magma and lava as they complete and activate their volcanoes. Scripted curriculum walks group leaders through a demonstration of tectonic plates and volcano formation. Includes detailed instructions for building the volcano. Part 1 must be completed (and dry) before Part 2 begins.
