Your students will look forward to science so much as you are working on this project. Each student chooses a volcano to research and share online with classmates by creating a point on a shared online map. They will be using the Google site called My Maps (kind of like a personal Google Maps) to share their work with their classmates and explore others' work. This allows them to visualize and share the natural world of volcanoes in a way never possible without technology!
To use this product, you must have access to technology such as computers, Chromebooks, etc. Your students must also have Google Drive accounts.
Research sites, tutorials, and GoogleDocs* are provided for you to share with your students. I have provided you with a day by day guide on what you need to prep for and what you need to teach every day before you let the students research their volcano. The students will truly take ownership of their research because they are excited about using technology, personalizing their point on the map, and the ability to share it online.
*I have shared all Google Documents with you as "view only." You will have to make your own copies in your own Drive to share with your class.
