Product Description
This is now a 700 slide PowerPoint presentation with built-in class notes (red slides), built-in hands-on activities with directions, built-in visual quizzes, Challenge questions and answers, amazing video links, 5 page homework, answer key, lesson notes, 5 pages of classwork sheets that follow slideshow with spreadsheets, blank graphs, questions, visuals, 160 slide PowerPoint Review Game, template, and much more.

This PowerPoint begins with a definition of a volcano (red slide = important notes) with image. An activity then has the teacher cue up Google Earth and visit several volcanoes around the world. Images of the volcanoes are provided if you want to skip the Google Earth tour. A link to Mt. Vesuvius / Pompeii video in HD is provided. Special attention is given to Mt. Saint Helens and Krakatoa / Anak Krakata. The positives of volcanoes are then described in a step by step process (red slides). Only one small piece of new information is presented per slide and always accompanied by an image. The negatives of volcanoes are then provided in a similar process. The types of volcanoes are then presented one slide at a time with visuals. Students then partake in a quiz 1-10 to name the type of volcano (Word Bank Provided). Answers are provided after the quiz. The question is previewed one last time before the answer is revealed so the teacher can call upon students. Pyroclastic flows / clouds and lahar's are described with visuals. Instructions are then presented to students to build a volcano. They must decided what type of volcano to build from the prior quiz / learning. Once students build the volcano (film canister, clay, baking soda, vinegar, red and orange food coloring, dish washing soap, and plate.) They then label the parts of the volcano with toothpicks and tape (create little flags). The parts of the volcano are presented in a step by step process. A series of challenge slides has each part of the volcano covered with a box. A box will highlight yellow. The teacher calls upon a student. The box then disappears and the answer is revealed. Students are then presented a picture of their mini volcano and all of the positives, negatives, and parts are described in a step by process. Students then erupt the volcano with vinegar. The types of magma (Felsic, Mafic, Intermediate) and then the types of lava's (Aa and Pahoehoe) are then described. A quiz wiz 1-10 has the students guess the type of lava "Aa" pr "Pahoehoe" from pictures. The answers are provided at the end. A 160 slide PowerPoint review game concludes this lesson and is a great review. I don't play the game like Jeo ______, but allow students to work in small table groups with quiet communication and use of their notebook. This is a really neat PowerPoint that involves the students throughout. Making volcanoes at the end is a fun way to review a lot of the material covered.

This PowerPoint includes critical notes (Red Slides), exciting visuals, challenge questions, activities with directions and more. Text is usually placed at the top of the slide so it can be read from all angles of a classroom. Color coded slides, as well as a shade technique is used to increase student focus and allows the teacher to control the pace of the lesson. These PowerPoints are meant to be as interactive as possible and ask many questions, provide built-in opportunity to review material, explain directions to activities, and much more. Transition effects are never used.
