A unique approach to teaching about the Mount Vesuvius eruption of 79 A.D. with a focus upon the devastating impact upon Pompeii. Included is a chronological breakdown of the actual eruption by hour.
The most infamous volcanic eruption ever--Mt. Vesuvius and the eruption of 79 A.D.--is featured and examined in a very creative way. First, the ash cloud, pumice fall, and pyroclastic flow are analyzed to answer the questions as to why Pompeii and Herculaneum were impacted in the dramatic and devastating manner they were.
In addition to the unique eruption detail of Mt. Vesuvius, the particular impact on Pompeii and Herculaneum is also investigated in both descriptive and image detail. Everything is then wrapped up with a quick summary sheet giving each significant geographic area and its particular eruption episode its due diligence.
This works well for any level but is GREAT for special education students or college prep learners that need an alternative assessment and may not be great at traditional activities/labs.
Also, perfect for homeschooling!
WIDE RANGE OF ABILITY LEVELS! The application to a diverse body of learners, whether it be age or ability level, is predicated on the fact that the instructor determines the difficulty level of the whole activity or part of the activity based on what information is given and what information is not as well as how verbal questions are presented to the student(s).
This is a thorough and DYNAMIC activity that covers rather unknown information about Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii. This is an effective teaching tool one on one, in small groups, and as a class when using a Smart Board/Promethean Board/Projection.
