This activity deals with the introduction and critical elements to the volleyball underhand and overhand serve. It’s geared towards middle school students but can be easily adapted to older kids or younger kids. The following objectives are covered: During the warm-up game safe zone, the students will be able to show personal responsibility and safety by being aware of their surroundings and making good decisions for the duration of the game.
Given check for understanding questions, the students will be able to recall rules and safety by answering the check for understanding questions of safe zone with 100% accuracy.
Given check for understanding questions, the students will be able to recall critical elements of serving by answering check for understanding questions with 100% accuracy
During safe zone, the students will be able to put to use speed and jumping by performing jump rope 10 times when they get tagged for the duration of the Activity.
During Serving, the students will be able to put to use proper techniques underhand and overhand serving by practicing during each drill for the duration of each activity. Based on the amount of time you have in your class period this could be a 30-40 lesson or a half class for longer periods (all based on how long the teacher wants to do the activities).
