Volume Fractional Edge Units:
Determining volume and number of fractional edge unit cubes is now a key concept for 6th grade. Students must calculate volume of right rectangular prisms using unit cubes with fractional edge lengths. Not only are students to use the traditional algorithm, it is expected that they will also be able to state the number of half unit, third unit, or quarter unit cubes in a given shape. Additionally when given the number of fractional units, student must be able to determine the volume.
The worksheets were created to assist with the more rigorous curriculum of the CCSS. See exactly what is being offered prior to purchase by looking at the preview.
Prerequisite skills needed: knowledge of calculating volume using whole numbers, knowledge of multiplying mixed number and fractions.
I hand out Pages 1 and 1A to students to use as part of lecture notes.
