I use this sound check chart daily in my classroom! It helps tremendously with volume control. Before we start an activity, we decide as a class what the level of volume should be. Once we decide, a student places a clothespin (any sort of clip will work) on the appropriate volume card. It's a wonderful visual for those students who may not hear things the first time around. :)
5-Out of Control: Recess voice-never used inside.
4-Loud Crowd: Presenting voice- everyone can hear you.
3-Formal Normal: Conversation voice-used with friends.
2-Low Flow: Group voice-only your group can hear you.
1-Spy Talk: Partner voice-only your partner can hear you.
0-Silence: No voice-listening, thinking, taking a test, etc,
